Kharkiv, Ukraine, lies 40 miles south of the Russian border. Since 2022, the city has been under siege by their neighbors, enduring warfare for three years. Local photographer Viktor’s love for samurais and reverence for his late father, a veteran, spurs him to join the Ukrainian forces—but his hearing impairment prevents enlistment. As he captures Kharkiv through phases of the invasion, viewers experience the visceral tragedy of war through Viktor’s tenacious lens.
Viktor will be screening with open captions, and ASL interpretation will be provided for the post-screening conversation.
The screening will be followed by a post-film discussion moderated by Isaac Zablocki, the co-founder and CEO of ReelAbilities.
