Join Civic Practice Partnership Artist in Residence Jon Gray of Ghetto Gastro for a communal celebration in partnership with Bruckner Mott Haven Garden in the South Bronx. The event marks the culmination of Gray’s two-year residency at The Met, where he engaged with global food traditions and objects from across Africa, Asia, and the South Bronx.
Make art, enjoy music, and listen to a conversation between Gray and Carolina Saavedra that explores the connections between community, food, and social sculptures. Sample complimentary Oaxacan food from Saavedra’s family’s restaurant, La Morada, which aims to preserve and share Indigenous Mexican cuisine and actively participates in social justice causes.
Free, though advance registration is recommended. Please note: Food and art-making supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
