The Board of Directors of the New York Deaf Theatre is seeking new potential board members.
New York Deaf Theatre, LTD (NYDT) was established in 1979 by a group of Deaf actors and theatre artists who wanted to create opportunities to produce a dramatic art form
that was not found elsewhere in New York City: plays in American Sign Language.
A not-for-profit, professional theatre organization, NYDT is the longest-running company of its kind in Greater New York City and the third oldest Deaf Theatre in America. Commitment to the Duties and Responsibilities of the new Board Member.
Becomes active as a volunteer, participant, donor, and audience member.
Serves a two-year term, with a maximum period of six years.
Attends board meetings, retreats, and other activities.
Participates in such committees, including artistic production, grant writing,
marketing, social media/website, fundraising, and donor relations as expertise.
Pledges $750.00 in annual support per fiscal year.
Promotes the mission, goals, and projects of NYDT.
Actives involvement in or becomes an immersive interest in the Deaf community,
culture, and sign language.
The Board strives for the representation of diversity in the NYDT community. NYDT
seeks an individual to be a representative on the BIPOC board and to maintain this
achievement.
