Learning from Young DHH RBIPOC Adults through Art
My name is Farha. I am a hearing speech-language pathologist (SLP) of Color and a PhD candidate at New York University (NYU) in the Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program. I am conducting an arts-based study that aims to learn from Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) people (18-25 years old) who are Racialized, Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color (RBIPoC) and your/their interactions with SLPs when you/they received SLP services between the ages of 15 years old and 25 years old. After several years of working with DHH people, my goal is to place DHH people as experts of their lives and to conduct creative research that informs high quality SLP services for, and with, young DHH people, who are also RBIPoC. This study is approved by NYU's Institutional Review Board (NYU IRB FY2022-6091). If you are interested in participating in this study and/or have questions, please contact me: fh2085@nyu.edu
