Jessie Young’s Open Studio is happening this fall at BAX’s Theater on Saturday, November 19 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are free and live-streaming is available.
Jessie Young is a Year Two BAX Artist in Residence. This new piece uses words to delve into the chasm between the body and the mouth, the body and the voice. A landscape of expansive storytelling, this capacious performance experiment works to unearth information about the self that has not yet been named, a ghost story about all that has not yet been said.
Direction by Iris McCloughan with a conversation with choreographer, dancer and writer Angie Pittman.
Jessie Young is a Brooklyn-based choreographer, performer and teacher originally from Port Angeles, Washington. She makes dance-based atmospheres and ecologies tuned through organic yet exacting physicality. Her performances are oceanic and panoramic, a slow burn of movement that creates a kind of weather.
The show will be live in the BAX Theater with ASL interpretation. A livestream option is also available. Please note that the BAX Theater is located on the second and third floors of the building and currently, there is no elevator or ramp. Feel free to email artistprograms@bax.org with any access needs or questions.
