Create a jazz-inspired headband or brooch or browse children's books specially selected to pair with the exhibition The Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism. Storytime with Harlem Public Library 1:15 pm and 2:15 pm Art Study Room, Uris Center for Education, Ground Floor Look, listen, sing, and have fun with Storytime! Join Harlem Public Library and Met educators for stories related to the Harlem Renaissance. Drop-in Drawing—Creating Characters 2–4 pm Gallery 700, The Charles Engelhard Court, Floor 1 Experience The Met collection through creative drawing challenges with expert artists. In this special session, watch as illustrator and cartoonist Tim Fielder demonstrates his artistic process, then create your own comic book character. Materials are provided, but you may bring your own sketchbook. Please note, only pencils are allowed in the galleries. Demonstrations repeat every 40 minutes. For visitors of all ages. Performances Step Show by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm Great Hall Stairs, Floor 1 Experience the precision, rhythm, and high energy of Divine Nine organizations as we celebrate their contributions to the Harlem Renaissance.
