7–8:30 pm
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
Celebrate the spooky season with the launch of Dreaming of You by Melissa Lozada-Oliva, Brooklyn-based writer, musician, and co-host of the podcast Say More. Written in verse, this macabre and heartfelt examination of celebrity worship follows a young Latinx poet who decides to bring Tejana pop star Selena Quintanilla back to life through a séance. The evening opens with a performance by Mia Berrin of Pom Pom Squad, followed by a reading and conversation between Berrin and the author. In honor of Halloween weekend, dress as your favorite dead celebrity for a chance to be crowned prom royalty (inspired by a pivotal scene in the book).
