You will need a paper towel roll, paint or markers, dental floss, tape, and scissors. If you have them, optional materials include ribbon or string, paper and pencil, and any decorative stickers or tape of your choice. *6:30–6:50 pm Community Workshop: Volunteers Sophie Glidden-Lyon and Vero Ordaz from Interference Archive, an organization dedicated to documenting the creative history of social movements, discuss the importance of community archives and lead a workshop on creating a personal #stayathomearchive. 6:50–7:20 pm Teen Talk and Poetry Reading: Our teen staff remixes and reimagines history with a poetry reading and discussions of objects in our ancient Egyptian Art collection. *7:20–7:30 pm Happy Hour: Mix up the perfect Cinco de Mayo cocktail or mocktail, starting with Perrier and led by Rony Jaramillo of Park Slope restaurant Chela Modern Mexican along with our culinary experts at The Norm restaurant and Great Performances Hospitality Group. *7:30–8 pm Curator Talk: Curators Catherine Morris and Carmen Hermo discuss the process of organizing Out of Place: A Feminist Look at the Collection, with a focus on the ways artists in the exhibition engage with the domestic sphere. 8–8:30 pm Music: Brooklyn-based band Strings N Skins mixes the acoustic vibrations of the drum and electronic sounds of the violin to produce an explosive sound reflecting their Caribbean and Latin American heritage. 8:30–10 pm Music: DJ, artist, and activist Bembona draws from her Puerto Rican-Panamanian roots as well as her Brooklyn upbringing in music that crosses generations, communities, and styles within the Afro-Latinx diaspora.
