ASL DrawNow! Online! with Nic Annette Miller and Joyce Hom
Join us for an online participatory drawing workshop in ASL, presented in conjunction with the ongoing exhibition Ebecho Muslimova: Scenes in the Sublevel. Inspired by Muslimova's bold and uninhibited cartoon alter ego, Fatebe, the workshop will focus on self-expression through the creation of figurative characters. Please note this workshop will be in ASL with no voice interpretation. It is free and open to the signing community. Participation is recommended only for ages 16+, due to the content of some of the images. With her unflinching wide-eyed gaze and a mischievous smile, Fatebe activates each scene with her endlessly expandable body as she encounters new objects and circumstances. The artist illustrates the character's experience of physical and mental space in a way that both demonstrates and conflicts her own self-consciousness and anxieties. Fatebe remains fearless and ready for her next misstep.
